As costume designer for Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter, I worked to recreate the elegance of 1950s Lima while celebrating the beauty and power of women. Through the design, I sought to accompany the characters’ emotional journeys—particularly that of Aunt Julia, a woman ahead of her time who challenged social conventions with style and conviction.
The period silhouettes, vibrant colors, and carefully considered details were conceived to sustain the atmosphere of the era and reinforce the emotional force of the relationships and tensions between the characters. The costumes did more than dress the characters—they helped tell the story. Receiving the ACE Award for Best Costume Design for this production was also a recognition of the visual language of the stage as a powerful form of storytelling.
